ABTR has started 2010 with a bang!

While we're hoping the new year will bring with it fewer dogs in need of rescue, The Great Boston Deluge of 2009 taught us that we must be prepared for anything. Whether it's a medical emergency (a la Nicky, Martini & Rossi, Twitter, Junebug, Lutie, Christmas Cheer, Stinger and her Pups, etc.), a puppymill bust, or simply an unprecedented influx of shelter dogs and owner surrenders, we must be ready and able to help the dogs who need us. So in that spirit, we've already begun preparations for our annual Cinco de Mayo adopter/supporter appreciation party and fundraiser. I know it's a bit early, but we hope to make this year's party our biggest and best event yet!

At the center of our CdM fundraising activities each year is the annual silent auction. This auction is unique because we offer all of our Boston-loving friends a chance to bid on the donated items virtually before the actual event. It's great fun and it usually inspires a few hard-fought bidding wars. Best of all, 100% of the money raised benefits the slew of dogs in ABTR's foster program.

ABTR took in 300+ dogs in 2009, more than doubling our busiest year. That's a lot of mouths to feed, and the vet bills... Well, let's just say that we feel very fortunate that we've been able to provide for each dog that entered our program. It's because of the generosity of our supporters that we've been able to help these terrific little canines.

We now look to you to help us build a silent auction that will inspire awe and make jaws drop. It's for the Bostons after all!

ABTR is currently accepting donations for our Cinco de Mayo 2010 Silent Auction. We're looking for fun and unique Boston/dog-themed items, especially handmade items created with love. Whether you're an artist, a photographer, a knitter, a seamstress, a quilter, a musician, a sculptor, or the enviable Martha Stewart-type, we need you! We will accept any type of donation that might help our Bostons, not just Boston themed things.

As always, all donations are tax deductible and a donation receipt will be provided. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me an email. We're asking that all donations arrive by April 10th. This will ensure that we have plenty of time to photograph everything and create write ups for the virtual silent auction that will be held for two weeks prior to the event. WE will Put the webpage for the auction event on the webpages.

Please send all FUND RAISING donations (and a return mailing address for donation receipts) to:

URGENT NEED!

American Boston Terrier Rescue has taken more than 300 Boston Terriers into our program this past year. WE do not turn a Boston down if we have space available no matter how old they are or what is wrong with them. ABTR sees their suffering and knows they need our help, so we offer them help.

Won't you please consider pledging just $10 to help these Boston Terriers get the care they need? ABTR is committed to doing all we can for them, but our resources have been stretched enormously over the past year and we really need some help to give these dogs the chance they deserve. We're grateful for each and every contribution. Thank you.

ABTR is a 501c3 charitable organization and every penny you donate is tax-deductible.

Thank you for your support.

All vet bills, dog food and anything else the dogs need are paid for out of the adoption donations and my own pocketbook. Any Donations are appreciated.

Current Fundraisers for ABTR

Scentsy Fundraiser

ABTR has partnered with a very generous Scentsy representative to bring you this wonderfully unique fundraising opportunity. Please note that this offer is valid only through our partnership with this individual Scentsy Independent Consultant.

The event begins February 1 and ends February 28, 2010. American Boston Terrier Rescue will receive 25% of all sales, minus sales tax and shipping, from products purchased.

The featured warmer from Scentsy is "Paws" which is shown below. The scent of the month for February is Vanilla Suede and is available in bar, brick, car freshener, and room spray.

For the month of February, all Scentsy products are discounted 10%. The featured warmer and Vanilla Suede items are already reduced 10%. You may view all of the Scentsy products at https://mmittag.scentsy.us/Home. The only items not discounted are Close-out Warmers, Campus Collection Warmers, Perfect Scentsy, Perfect Plug-Ins, Scentsy Sampler, and Double the Scentsy.

To place an order, please visit https://mmittag.scentsy.us/Home. Go to the section labeled "My Open Parties" and scroll down to "Boston Terrier Rescue" and select "Buy from party". This link will take you to the Scentsy Online Catalog from which you may place your order. The "Paws" warmer can be found in the "Monthly Specials" section by selecting the "Scent and Warmer of the Month" link. Of course you may browse all of the exciting Scentsy products and purchase as many products as you wish.

When ordering a warmer, our Consultant recommends that you also purchase a fragrance bar. Each bar has 6 squares and the fragrance square will last from eight to ten hours. The entire bar will last forty to sixty hours.

There are no shipping charges for product orders over $150. For orders less than $150, a 10% shipping charge will be added. Online orders totaling $150.00 or more are entitled to free merchandise and half-price items, exclusive of the February warmer and products of the month. The website will guide you through the ordering process.

You may pay with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express.

Remember, Scentsy products are authentic, unique, great quality and have a 100% guarantee. Should you have any questions, there is an email link just below our Consultant's name on her webpage.

The more Scentsy products you buy during February means the more money donated to American Boston Terrier Rescue.

Let's work together to help the Bostons!

Avon Fundraiser

Go to the AVON website

ABTR is pleased to announce an Avon fundraiser to benefit the dogs of ABTR.

Many thanks to Donna Dawley for creating this great fundraising opportunity for the ABTR pack. From now until the end of February, 10% from all orders placed through her site will be donated to ABTR!

Important note: Please enter code ABTR2 during check out to ensure the donation is properly credited.

Shop with Mary Kay

Longtime supporter and ABTR adopter Donna Dawley is offering to donate 20% of her profits when you purchase from her Mary Kay store and enter ABTR as the event code.

Visit her store!

She is unable to provide free shipping and donate to ABTR, but most items will be inexpensive to ship using USPS Flat Rate boxes. If you are local to the DFW area, she can even deliver them to you!

There is no expiration date on this offer, just be sure to enter ABTR as the event code to ensure ABTR is credited with the sale. Thanks!

If you are in the DFW area and want to book a party with a minimum of four participants, Donna will also donate a portion of the sales proceeds to ABTR. Thanks Donna! You may also donate a portion of your hostess gift(s) to help us raise more money to pay for the vetting of our foster dogs.

'Reading Fur Rescue'

The Ultimate Gift Fur Your Dog-Loving Friends and Family: Great Books that Give Back!

Pick up books at the Happy Tails Books website and be sure to say you heard out about them from ABTR on the checkout page so our rescue will get credit for the sale.

Sharing books from the 'Lost Souls: Found!' series, which contain over 50 heartwarming stories about adopted dogs, is a great opportunity to help raise awareness about dog rescue. It will surely be one of the most memorable and appreciated gifts you give this year.

'Hollywood Barks!' is revered Hollywood Studio Wrangler Kathryn Segura's memoir, which brings to light the fact that many Hollywood 'star' dogs are actually rescues! The 'tails' within are funny, poignant, and a must-read for any dog-lover or movie buff.

Previews of all books are available on the website.
